PRIVACY
How Cadran handles your data.
Effective: February 2026
Cadran is built around a simple principle: your data stays with you. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how.
Who we are
Cadran is developed and maintained by Ilyes Abd-Lillah, based in Toulouse, France. For the purposes of applicable data protection laws — including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) — the data controller is Ilyes Abd-Lillah. You can reach us at support@cadranapp.com.
What we collect
Cadran does not require an account, sign-in, or any personal information to function. No name, email, or identifier is ever requested or stored by us.
Weather-aware faces (optional)
If you enable a weather-aware clock face, Cadran sends your device's approximate coordinates to Open-Meteo (openmeteo.com) to retrieve current conditions. This request is made from your device directly — we never see, log, or store your location. You can review Open-Meteo's privacy policy at openmeteo.com.
On-device preferences
Your chosen face, background, display settings, and all other preferences are stored locally in macOS UserDefaults on your device only. They are never uploaded to any server.
Legal basis for processing
We process data on the following legal bases under GDPR Article 6: consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) for weather coordinates when you enable a weather-aware face; and legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) for anonymized App Store sales data provided by Apple. Since Cadran collects no personal data beyond optional weather coordinates, most GDPR processing requirements do not apply in practice.
Data retention
Cadran does not store any personal data on any server. Your preferences are stored locally in macOS UserDefaults and persist until you delete the app. Weather coordinates are sent to Open-Meteo in real time and are never stored by Cadran.
International data transfers
Weather coordinates are sent directly from your device to Open-Meteo, which is operated within the European Union. No data passes through Cadran's infrastructure. There is no cross-border transfer of personal data outside the EU/EEA.
Analytics & tracking
Cadran contains no third-party analytics SDK, no crash-reporting library that sends data off-device, and no advertising network. We have no visibility into how or how often you use the app.
In-App Purchases
Cadran Pro is sold through the App Store. Apple handles all purchase and payment processing. We receive no financial data from these transactions beyond what Apple provides in App Store Connect.
Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)
Under GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, data portability, object to processing, and lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority (in France: CNIL). Under CCPA/CPRA, you have the right to know, delete, opt out of the sale of personal information, and non-discrimination. In practice, since Cadran collects no personal data, there is nothing to access, correct, or delete. Disabling the weather feature stops all coordinate transmission. Contact: support@cadranapp.com. We will respond within 30 days.
Children's privacy
Cadran is designed for a general audience and is not specifically directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children. Because no personal data is collected, COPPA obligations do not apply.
Do Not Sell or Share
Cadran does not sell, share, or disclose personal information to third parties for advertising or commercial purposes. We have not done so in the preceding 12 months. Since no personal data is collected, no opt-out mechanism is necessary.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Cadran evolves. Significant changes will be noted in the app release notes. The effective date above will be updated on each revision.
